Sketching is a huge part of my art practice - the finished pieces of course but also for but also for honing my observation skills. Often I use a reference photo purely for lighting and allow my artistic licence to decide on how much of a likeness of needed, but when it comes to commissions, things need to get accurate!! Sketching helps me hone those skills and you know what, it’s just good to draw with no fixed agenda or judgement. (Well ok, maybe I still judge myself but I am trying to let that go!)
